Amazingly to me there are 21 people who are following this blog - You folks are awesome!
Unfortunately, I'm probably going to stop updating this blog much since I've reactivated the blog attached to my gallery site (and by reactivated, I just mean I'm posting to it again).
Anyhow, I encourage all of you faithful fans to check out this post on the other blog, and follow me via Facebook or Google+ (or I suppose that wretched hive of scum and villainy - twitter)... By the way, I'm giving away free prints - see the other blog for details!
And now... a pretty picture:

Miss January...
Ms. January (yeah, doesn't make much sense and I can't even tell you the sex of this 'ere bird, but I also can't seem to avoid the joke...) This is the featured shot for January in my 2012 Calendar.
I shot this in Santa Cruz at Natural Bridges State Beach where the local birds seemed quite used to people getting close - that allowed me the rare opportunity to shoot this Egret landing quite near me.

2012 Calendar
For several recent Christmases I've made calendars of my photos to give to friends and family - this year I decided that having put together a calendar, I may as well make it available to anyone interested in it - check it out: wildlandphotos.com calendar on CafePress

Updates...
Well, it seems I've been neglecting the blog... the big news in my photography workflow is a static spark shot from my leg into my macbook, prompting a hardware upgrade to a Lenovo T520, and a move from OSX to Ubuntu Linux (with a short stop in Windows 7 to remind me how much windows sucks - really, try Ubuntu and watch your computer fly!) As a result, I've switched from Lightroom to Bibble 5. There are good and bad points of bibble vs. lightroom (which I may try to write up at some point) but on the whole, bibble is working very well for me, and it's nice to finally be in linux full time. Now photos... here's one from Cedar Breaks National Monument, Utah:
